Desperate to know what direction Zack Snyder will take his new Superman reboot? Eager to know what tale they'll weave? Well, to be honest, you still will be after reading Warner Bros' leaked synopsis, but at least it gives us a little more to go with...

'In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.'

[The journo aspect is fleshed out a little more in the rumoured (shorter) synopsis we reported on last month:

"Clark Kent is a freelance reporter in his early 20’s, traveling all around the world covering various news stories. However, Kent is forced to fly back into action to attain a fleeing assassin instead of covering an ethnic conflict between the Ghuri and Turaaba clans in West Africa. Upon his return to form, Kent returns to Smallville to learn more about his origins and become the hero he was born to be."]

To be frank, even combining the two, it all sounds a bit dull, and I'm still disappointed that Synder is focussing so much on yet another origin tale. Is there anybody in the world who isn't already familiar with Supes' back-story? It's a gamble considering this is the final chance for Hollywood to get this property right - we're really hoping that Snyder and co have an ace up their sleeve.

We'll find out whether Snyder can succeed where Singer only failed when MAN OF STEEL is released in the summer of 2013.

What do you guys think? Are you happy with the way MAN OF STEEL is shaping up? Does this Nolan conceived premise sound like the story the should be telling? Let us know with your comments below or on Twitter @Starburst_Mag
