Movie News

Considering that GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is now a mere 8 months away, it’s surprising we haven’t seen more advance publicity for it. It’s not that we particularly want this stuff so early, it’s that you’d think Marvel Studios would be doing everything within their power to raise public awareness, because the mass public – who don’t know these space adventurers from Adam – are the ones whose cash really matters. GOTG is Marvel Studios' biggest risk to date, and we’ll be doing everything we can to spread the word on one of our most eagerly awaited flicks of the year, but if general audiences aren’t given the right amount of time to acclimatize themselves to the notion of a gun-toting raccoon and a talking tree, this could prove a hard sell.

Anyhoo, here's what you really clicked on this article for, the very first official image. Presenting: Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Chris Pratt as Peter Quill aka Star-Lord, Bradley Cooper (and a bazillion CG wizards) as Rocket Raccoon, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer and Vin Diesel as Groot…

Official Synopsis:

From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchise of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team--the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits -Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand--with the galaxy's fate in the balance.
