Movie News

The Nature Attacks sub-genre has thrown up so many obscure killer animals (Night of the Lepus, Slugs, Black Sheep) that enlarged wasps is almost fairly simple. These films are crazy but enjoyable, that said the pleasures of seeing the prosthetic and animatronic effects of these films seems to have died out of late and the genre has become a stagnant Syfy fixture, replete with shoddy CGI, even worse actors and a lack of fun. Well hive got a good idea (sorry) - why not check out these newly released images for Stung! A production of Germany’s Rat Pack Filmproduction and XYZ Films, this film, on evidence of its pictures, seems to be using older school effects and to gory effect.

Benni Diez directs the film and Adam Aresty writes the screenplay, for what looks to be a hoot. The official synopsis reads:

A fancy garden party goes terribly wrong after a local species of wasps mutate into giant predators. It’s up to Paul and Julia, two catering staffers at the high-society event, to stop the killer creatures – an effort that kickstarts a budding romance between the two.

The stills are not wasp heavy (well aside from two) and feature an array of shocked faces, outdoor partying, chaos and a person who has a slight look of Richard Hammond. No doubt there will be havoc but as the genre dictates, to be the best, you gotta beat the pest (note to advertisers, you are welcome to use that tagline if you so wish). The film stars Matt O’Leary (Death Sentence), Jessica Cook, Peter Stormare (Fargo) and Lance Henriksen (Aliens) and will ram its rear end into the 2014 release schedule, exact date TBA. For now take a gander at these newly released official pictures...
