Not really a big surprise this but Cobie Smulders will return as character Maria Hill in Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. Smulders revealed her return in a conversation with the Calgary Herald, saying:

"I think I’m in Avengers 2, but it is very top secret. I hope I’m in Avengers 2. I didn’t get my invitation yet. Well, actually, they know I’m in it but they don’t know to what degree I’m in it," further stating,I am really excited to read the script because they are introducing Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch into the Avengers universe and the bad guy is going to be very interesting.

We wouldn’t read too much into that air of (“I think”) uncertainty. Smulders is clearly eager to jettison across the Marvel cinematic universe along with many others actors (Clark Gregg, Samuel L. Jackson, etc.), already appearing in 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier and has appeared in TV series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. too. So it stands to reason that Age of Ultron will be the next logical step for Maria Hill (unless Winter Soldier has something to say about it).

Avengers: Age of Ultron is out on the 1st May 2015 and will follow next years Captain America: The Winter Soldier, released 28th March 2014.
