An ant-sized hint at an upcoming addition to the giant Marvel Cinematic Universe has emerged, courtesy of THE WORLD’S END director Edgar Wright on Twitter.

Wright posted: “Now I’m back in LA, it’s high time to finish a little something I’ve been working on…” along with this image....

This ‘little something’ is of course ANT-MAN, the story of biophysicist Henry Pym, who decides to be a superhero after discovering a way to shrink himself down to the size of an ant. What’s particularly remarkable about this set image is that ANT-MAN hasn’t even started filming yet, nor has the lead role been cast – though Wright fans are hoping Simon Pegg, Wright’s buddy and noted comic book fan, may get a chance to don the helmet. As Wright is just now travelling to LA to begin pre-production, the photograph was presumably taken when a test reel was shot a couple of years ago.

ANT-MAN, the first instalment in Marvel’s Phase 3, won’t be released until 31st July 2015. But there are a lot more Marvel films making up the remainder of Phase 2 to go…
