Movie News

In some disappointing news, director James Wan has revealed that he has directed his last horror film. Having directed SAW, the underrated DEAD SILENCE, INSIDIOUS, THE CONJURING and the upcoming INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2, Wan revealed the news in an interview with Moviefone.

The director said, “I’m going to go on record and say I am finished with the horror genre. CONJURING and INSIDIOUS 2 are my two last scary movies. I spent the last ten years of my life doing this. It’s time for a change.”

In terms of a dramatic change, Wan is now signed on to direct FAST AND FURIOUS 7. A film that’s of no interest whatsoever to anyone at Starburst, for what it’s worth, the director added, “I love that universe. I love the world that they created. I want to honour that world and be mindful of how much fans enjoy that world. I don’t want to mess that up too much, but at the same time, I definitely would love to bring my own stamp to it. I think what I do best is, I love creating tension and suspense.”

One of the brightest horror talents of recent years, it will be a shame to see Wan walk away from the genre.

As for INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2, that’s due in cinemas on Friday.
