Movie News: GRAVITY a Hit with Festival Audiences

Alfonso Cuaron's highly anticipated 3D drama Gravity made its North American debut at the TELLURIDE Film Festival this weekend just days after its Venice Film Festival premiere, and by all accounts it was incredibly well received with “hearty applause.”

The film concerns two astronauts played by George Clooney and Sandra Bullock, who struggle to survive in space after a freak accident destroys their spacecraft. Members of the audience were particularly impressed with the space suited constrained performances of Bullock and Clooney.

The scientific accuracy was also praised such as when chaos is occurring there isn’t the cacophony of sound that usually accompanies action scenes in space, but rather it’s almost silent. Emmanuel Lubezki's cinematography and Tim Webber’s visuals effects also received high praise being described as awe-inspiring, and that watching Gravity was akin to seeing 2001: A Space Odyssey or Star Wars for the first time.
