With Ultron having recently been confirmed as the villain for AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, many have questioned the character’s origin. In the comic-book world, Hank Pym, aka Ant-Man, creates the psychotic robotic being. It’s rumoured that Ultron’s cinematic roots will come from Tony Stark, although that’s yet to be confirmed. As for Ultron, director Edgar Wright was recently asked whether the character will appear in his upcoming ANT-MAN.

Speaking to The Huffington Post, Wright said, “It was never in my script, because even just to sort of set up what Ant-Man does is enough for one movie. It’s why I think IRON MAN is extremely successful because it keeps it really simple. You have one sort of… the villain comes from the hero’s technology. It’s simple. So I think why that film really works and why, sometimes, superhero films fail – or they have mixed results – because they have to set up a hero and a villain at the same time. And that’s really tough. And sometimes it’s unbalanced.”

There’s still no concrete plot news on Wright’s film bar the usual origin story that we’ve come to expect from these films. As for casting, there’s constant speculation of Simon Pegg joining the film, possibly even in the titular role, but, again, there’s still nothing solid on that front.

Either way, ANT-MAN is set to be released on 6th November, 2015.
