Movie News

Following on from the recent news that Robert Rodriguez’s FROM DUSK TIL DAWN is heading to the small screen in a new TV show for the filmmaker’s new El Ray network, comes news of another Rodriguez property getting similar treatment. No, it’s not the ongoing SHARK BOY AND LAVA GIRL series you’d always dreamed of, it’s his 1992 debut EL MARIACHI that Sony Pictures Television are interested in. Cool huh? Well… not quite. Unusually, the show will prove hard to see outside of Mexico, as Sony are producing it exclusively for the Latin American Market. In further strangeness, the studio have ordered 70 episodes. Yup. Seventy! We can’t imagine quality is going to be their highest priority somehow.

Ivan Arana (us neither) has already been cast as the gun-slinging, vengeance-seeking musician with a guitar case full of 'fuck you'. Check him out in the first official image below (we think Banderas can sleep safe)…

Yikes. That’s it for deets, folks. Hopefully we’ll figure out a way to at least take a peek at the first episode when it premieres later this year.
