Movie News: Goyer Reveals Title Choices for MAN OF STEEL Sequel

Movie News

So ever since it was announced at Comic-Con that Batman will be appearing in the next Superman film, the internet has been alive with joy, disgust, a few people smashing their laptops in rage and, more importantly, speculation on how the characters will interact and what will the film be called.

According to MAN OF STEEL scriptwriter David S. Goyer at the Superman 75th Anniversary panel it’s between SUPERMAN VS. BATMAN or BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN. Now that’s some creative thinking right there.

Lousy title aside, it does give us some idea as to how the characters will be interacting in the film and it would seem it will be the two icons fighting! With possible mass destruction and countless civilian death toll along the way!

I must confess, the idea of this movie doesn’t thrill me, but then I really did not like Snyder’s take on Superman in MAN OF STEEL. The idea of these two characters coming together to fight and then meet a mutual understanding and common ground (spoilers?) isn’t exactly winning me over.

To be honest, the whole thing stinks of a lack of faith in Superman’s ability to pull in the same numbers in another solo film, especially in the same summer that will see AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON and STAR WARS: EPISODE VII hit screens.

Neither title from Goyer shows signs of creative genius, especially when a better title, and one more in keeping with the Nolan-verse mould of classier sounding titles, would surely be THE WORLD’S FINEST?

Or maybe even SUPERMAN/BATMAN: HOW PEOPLE WITH NO UNDERSTANDING OF THESE CHARACTERS GOT THE BIGGEST MOVIE GIG IN THE WORLD?

But what do you think the title should be? Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter @STARBURST_MAG

It'll never fly, ahem... I will admit I found Man of Steel slightly boring, Im not sure why because there were interesting bits (mainly the beginning sequences.. prequel perhaps? ) but Batman was created to offset the blue eyed boy as the antihero.
Its a chemical formula, acid verses alkinine equals........ water

Well it's Superman 2 (kind of) and he IS the older character of the two. Rubbish name aside, it has to be 'Superman vs Batman'. I'd prefer it that they work together rather than aganst each other though.

Quoting Stuart Mulrain:
Or Wizard Of Oz Vs. Star Wars! Now we're just giving them ideas!

Well, it's not as if they don't need a few. This year's movie offerings have left me distinctly underwhelmed; only Iron Man 3 has made much of a lingering impression so far.

Really not remotely interested in this film which is just as good an example of Hollywood barrel-scraping as it's possible to imagine, inevitable as it probably was. What next? Star Wars vs Star Trek? Narnia vs The Wizard of Oz? If it's going to be a straight fight between Batman and Superman I foresee a big bat-shaped splodge on the street seeing as Batman's just a glorified acrobat in a ridiculous costume. Wake me up when sanity has prevailed.

If it's anything like Meh of Steel it's going to be terrible. With Goyer and Synder behind it the title's the least of its worries.
