TV News: Sean Astin Feels THE STRAIN

With Hollywood’s hardest working gent’s latest big screen opus opening this weekend, Guillermo del Toro’s small screen saga, THE STRAIN, has added another cast member to its roster.

Ex Goonie and former hobbit Sean Astin has been cast as Jim Kent, friend and CDC colleague of Doctor Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll). THR reports that Kent is “a savvy and trustworthy guy who is an open political operative of the Canary Group, [and who] unknowingly betrays their friendship when he is coerced into releasing a cabinet out of quarantine that contains a potentially deadly virus.”

The pilot is due to begin production shortly with the signs being positive that at least a full season will be commissioned.
