Movie News

KNIGHT RIDER, a shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist. But with the Weinstein Company hiring screenwriter Brad Copeland (ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT / YOGI BEAR), a movie version of the 1980s TV show could finally exist.

The Weinstein Company are clearly forging a road into high-octane, action-oriented, cash register ringing features with this property. After all, love ‘em or hate ’em, the FAST AND FURIOUS movies are a highly lucrative franchise.  And although the Weinstein Company are renowned for their awards-oriented fare, those are not the most profitable of pictures.

KNIGHT RIDER previously returned to TV in 2008 clocking up a mere seventeen episodes but now could be the right time for a big screen adaptation. Original series star David Hasselhoff is keen to be involved in some way, but will the velvety voice of K.I.T.T., William Daniels, return for vocal duties?

The original TV series focused on Michael Knight, a police detective who was reborn into a modern high-tech crime fighter by billionaire Wilton Knight. Michael became an agent of Foundation for Law and Government (FLAG), along with his vehicular partner, K.I.T.T. (Knight Industries Two Thousand), and were used in situations where, “direct action might provide the only feasible solution.”

We’ll have more news on the project as it develops…
