With MAN OF STEEL currently tearing its way through the box office, The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Warner Bros. is looking to push ahead with a Superman sequel ASAP.

Originally, the plan was to release MAN OF STEEL, then follow this up with JUSTICE LEAGUE in 2015. Director Zack Snyder has since stated his intention is to make a sequel to MAN OF STEEL before he even thinks about JUSTICE LEAGUE. With the current success of MAN OF STEEL, it seems as if the WB is in agreement with the director. In order to capitalise on the interest in MAN OF STEEL, the studio reportedly wants to have a sequel in cinemas at some point during 2014. Apparently, the current plan also still includes JUSTICE LEAGUE being released in 2015.

Why the eagerness from Warners? Well, that's likely got something to do with the fact that the film has already taken $200 million at the global box office. That’s some serious fat-cash, right there.

Meanwhile, Zack Sndyer has been speaking to BleedingCool about Superman moving further afield in any possible sequel. The director said, “I was really interested in – and maybe it’s because Barack Obama is president now – it’s okay for Superman to be American. He’s quintessentially an American creature and creation. But that was always a thing that would be in the evolution of Superman. He has no choice but to become global. That literally has to happen in the sequel.”
