Since the advent of DVD we have all become used to the Deleted Scenes feature. Those little snippets that were filmed but not included in the final edit as it would’ve bogged the story down, slowed the pace, and so forth. And the majority of the time those scenes do indeed seem superfluous. Well it seems that Man of Steel is no exception to this practice. Man of Steel screenwriter David Goyer described two such scenes to Bleeding Cool

The first deleted scene is, Goyer describes, “a little scene in which Jonathan and Martha take a baby Kal to a paediatrician because he's starting to experience these changes. They do a hearing test on him where they're dialling up these sounds and baby Kal screams and it blows out all the windows. It was a funny scene... but after the armageddon on Krypton -- originally we went from that to baby Kal to the fishing trawler -- it just felt weird. We didn't need it. Tonally it felt off."

The second deleted scene wasn’t shot, but it would’ve highlighted the destructive power of General Zod and his subordinates. "Believe it or not there was another action scene," Goyer continues. "After Zod first announces himself [the Krpytonians] provide a demonstration of their might. They drop Faora into Shanghai and Namek, who is the big eight foot tall guy who doesn't speak, they drop him another foreign city. It was another five pages of crazy Kryptonian destruction. We didn't need it. We knew that, my God, there's already a lot of action."

Undoubtedly the filmed scene will make its appearance in the deleted super scenes section of the Blu-ray Extras.

I would've at least liked a scene where they introduce Lex Luthor, especially maybe at the end fight scene, saying, "man, who are they going to get to rebuild all of this?"
