Movie News: New HOBBIT Trailer On The Way

Movie News

There's good news for all you fans of horrendously overlong adaptations of rather slender classic children's novels, with the news that the first full trailer for the second part of Peter Jackson's HOBBIT trilogy - THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG - is almost upon us.

No news as to exactly when it'll land yet, but it's just been classified as 12A by the BBFC, so our guess is that it'll be attached to MAN OF STEEL next week, which means we can expect it online around then, if not sooner.

Whilst we're betting that Jackson's not going to give us any full-on dragon action quite yet, don't be surprised if the two minute trailer gives us a good look at the Elves, in particular Evangeline Lilly's Tauriel and the return of Orlando Bloom's Legolas. Then again it could be two minutes of Sylvester McCoy stroking his hedgehog for all we know (that's not a euphemism by the way).

Speaking of Tauriel, we posted a shiny new photo of her earlier today, so head HERE to see it if you missed it. Whilst you may think that a film with fifteen lead characters doesn't need any more, we're quite intrigued by her. THE HOBBIT's not exactly overflowing with female parts, so hopefully she'll help to redress the balance slightly, or, if it's dreadful, it'll give us an excuse to write lots of articles about how Jackson's 'Lost' the plot (she was in Lost/he's Lost the plot, we're wasted here).

Jackson's just started the next block of filming, now that star Martin Freeman's SHERLOCK commitments are temporarily out the way (two episodes down, one to go), so expect lots of tidbits over the coming months prior to the film's release on 13th December. Which, by our reckoning, just gives you time to re-watch AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY, providing you start right away.
