Movie News: Everyone Grab Your Trumpets! John Williams Set for STAR WARS Return...

There are a few things every good STAR WARS film needs: lotso lightsabers, Han Solo, and the most bombastic musical score this side of the Kessel run courtesy of the kingpin of soundtracks, John Williams. Thankfully, according to the latest rumours, Williams has been in talks with director J.J. Abrams to return for EPISODE VII. Praise be the force. And the London Symphony Orchestra.

Speaking in a recent interview, Williams said that "we've certainly talked about that, and I'm happy and willing to do it" going on to say how "[J.J.] seems excited by the idea." If Abrams can rouse the interest of the brassy lord paramount of sound himself then it bodes well for the still rampantly mysterious galactic sequel.

Ultimately, a STAR WARS film without Williams is like alcohol free-beer: pointless and antagonising.

In a cinematic world where Zimmer BLAHRMs are the norm and Jay-Z can sing along to F. Scott Fitzgerald, it’s reassuring to see a touch of the old-school: cool, calm, collected and more refined than thrice distilled bourbon. Williams probably erected that school back in the 19th century.

When asked about the film in general, Williams said "I can't wait to see what [J.J.] will do with it." Neither can we old master, neither can we.

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII is scheduled for a 2015 release.
