STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS writer and producer Damon Lindelof has apologised for what has become a controversial scene in the blockbuster movie.

The brief scene that has created much consternation witnesses Carol Marcus (Alice Eve) changing her clothes, and revealing her Starfleet smalls, before James Kirk (Chris Pine).

Lindelof has admitted via Twitter that they "should have done a better job of not being gratuitous in our representation of a barely clothed actress. We also had Kirk shirtless in underpants in both movies. [I] do not want to make light of something that some construe as misogynistic. What I'm saying is I hear you, I take responsibility and will be more mindful in the future."

So don’t expect to see the Kinky Klingon Lingerie range any time soon then.

I need to study the photo again just to be sure whether it's gratuitous or not. I just can't make my mind up...

Really an apology for showing someone in their underwear? It is gratuitous and it's called entertainment. Does anyone remember Starship Troopers with the lengthy naked shower scene? No complaints there shouldn't be any.

THAT scene was OK if a little brief, it's the rest of the film i want an apology for.

He needn't apologise to me.
