Movie News

When the first set pics hit last September, ROBOCOP fans were outraged at the character's radical re-design. As if having one of your favourite movies of all time rebooted wasn't hard enough to cope with, now they've turned him into a bloody Power Ranger. People started to worry. A nifty viral vid a little later provided a small comfort, as did the briefly leaked concept video which told viewers that the Robo glimpsed was just one of many different evolutionary designs the character would go through in the film's duration. Then they went and pulled it from its August release and we all started to worry anew. That's never a good sign. And now some new set pics from the reshoot have hit courtesy of the Daily Mail, and they're sure to incite much annoyance amongst a lot of you. Yes folks, that rubbish suit's back. But before we all start flipping out, it's probably best to remind ourselves of two words: Robocop. Three. The damage was already done twenty years ago! Maybe this will surprise us all and restore some credibility to the franchise? We'll find out for certain early 2014, but in the meantime...

Official Synopsis:

In RoboCop, the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the centre of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front.

Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilises their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex's life.

He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.

Director José Padilha (Elite Squad) reimagines the tale of part man, part machine, all cop starring Joel Kinnaman (The Killing) as the title character, Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises) as the scientist who creates RoboCop, and Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers) as media mogul Pat Novak.

RoboCop is being produced by Strike Entertainment's Marc Abraham and Eric Newman, with Eric Carraro as Executive Producer.

ROBOCOP opens in UK cinemas February 7th.
