Movie News

Social media web page, ‘ZEF to DEATH’ have confirmed that South African filmmaker Niell Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium) has cast none other than Yolandi Visser and her partner in rhyme Watkin Tudor Jones (AKA Ninja) from the profane cult rap group ‘Die Antwoord’ in his upcoming sci-fi comedy, Chappie.

The self-styled rap/rave duo who have previously collaborated with celebrated photographer and fellow South African Roger Ballen will have major roles playing themselves in the film of which little else is known except that it revolves around a ‘ridiculous robot character’.

Die Antwoord came to public notoriety with their first album $O$ in 2009, and fans will have been expecting this news ever since Yolandi Visser included the lyrics, ‘Niell Blomkamp’s making me a movie star’ on the song Baby’s on Fire off their second album Ten$ion.

It is not known whether the third, enigmatic member of the group, DJ Hi-Tek will make an appearance.
