Movie News: DAREDEVIL to be Rebooted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Movie News

Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige has today confirmed that they now own the movie rights to Daredevil, one of the first of their characters to be farmed out to Hollywood back in the dark days when the company weren’t making their own movies. This resulted in Twentieth Century Fox making the dreadful DAREDEVIL in 2003, a film which was largely unloved, but proved profitable enough to spawn a spin-off in the form of the ridiculous (but fun) kung fu throwback, ELEKTRA (2005). Several attempts have been made to get hornhead back on screens over the years, with David Slade (30 DAYS OF NIGHT) and Joe Carnahan (SMOKING ACES) coming the closest to heading the project. After these talks fell through, the clock was ticking for Fox, and if they didn’t get a new movie greenlit by last year, rumours were the rights would return to whence they came. Which, let’s be honest, is great news. Now Marvel Studios has enjoyed huge success with Phase One of their Marvel Cinematic Universe, which culminated in last year’s runaway success, THE AVENGERS, it’s only a matter of time before we see Matt Murdoch on our screens again in some form or another, be it a solo movie (probably looking at 2016 at the earliest), or an appeareance in one of the Phase Two titles (more probable).

One down, only Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men to go!
