Movie News

Deadline is reporting that Michael Rooker has officially signed on to join James Gunn’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. Rooker will be playing the role of Yondu, one of the founding fathers of the original Guardians team.

Familiar to most for his recent appearances as Merle in THE WALKING DEAD, ‘The Rook’ has also appeared in Gunn’s previous two films, SLITHER and SUPER, not to mention the brilliant HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER, TOMBSTONE and a personal favourite of mine in Kevin Smith’s MALLRATS.

Already confirmed for the film are Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star-Lord and Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer. Zoe Saldana is also apparently in talks for the role of Gamora. The Guardians roster will also have Groot and Rocket Raccoon in its ranks.
