Recently promoting PAIN & GAIN, Anthony Mackie spoke to BlackFilm about his role as The Falcon in the upcoming Cap sequel, CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER. Whilst the role was initially thought to be relatively small, apparently that will not be the case.

Mackie said, “I’m happy to say that I’m in a good deal of the movie and I play an integral part with Captain America taking down the Winter Soldier. It’s great. They started the shoot 2 1/2 weeks ago and once I’ve finished doing press for PAIN & GAIN, I go in and join them. I’ve been doing combat training and fitness training just to get prepared. It’s going to be something and I’m excited for it.”

With some concept art being released last week featuring The Falcon and his outfit (above right), Mackie elaborated on the suit. “They just released pictures of the costume last week,” he said. “It’s more of a military style tactical costume. He’s more along the lines of Captain America as far as being a super hero as opposed to a true superhero.”

Starring Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Scarlett Johansson, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp, Hayley Atwell, Georges St-Pierre, Max Hernandez and Robert Redford, CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER will be released on 4th April, 2014.
