Movie News

(Okay, so not really. They're not that great.)

We're sure CARRIE's release date shuffle from April to November was down to this month being so darn crowded (see OBLIVION; EVIL DEAD; IRON MAN 3), and nothing to do with the studio's concerns over quality (see the delayed G.I. JOE RETALIATION; HANSEL & GRETEL; JACK THE GIANT SLAYER). The trailers have been very encouraging thus far (if a little too spoilerific), so we're very much holding out hope that director Kimberley Peirce et al will be able to join the aforementioned EVIL DEAD in proving that horror remakes sometimes do have a home, and can bring something fresh to the table. These three newly released images don't exactly pack too much of a punch, but we thought them worthy of your attention anyway. Plus, it's a seriously slow news day. Enjoy!

The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine, is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White (Moore) and her daughter, Carrie (Moretz). Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin (Greer) tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson (Portia Doubleday, Youth in Revolt), but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell (Gabriella Wilde, The Three Musketeers), regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross (newcomer Ansel Elgort), to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc. Brian De Palma’s 1976 film version of CARRIE earned Oscar nominations for stars Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie.

CARRIE will unleash her telekinesis upon UK cinema audiences November 29th.
