Movie News

If you clicked on this thinking it was an article to do with the excellent South Korean monster movie, THE HOST, then we're sorry (although that will be in the news again shortly as the sequel's on its way next year), this is in fact the upcoming adaptation of TWILIGHT author Stephanie Meyer's 2010 sci-fi/romance novel of the same name. No, don't run away - this might actually be pretty good! You see, this has some heavyweight talent behind it in the form of filmmaker Andrew Niccol, who's responsible for bringing us some spectacularly cerebral sci-fi over the years, GATTACA being his standout picture. Niccol scored writing and directing duties on the movie, elevating it to a standard way above what we usually get with these franchise-starters. Basically, we might as well get accustomed to it now, it’s bound to be around for a loooong time to come. Another plus: not a sparkly vamp in sight! It’s sparkly-eyed aliens instead.

Anyway, here’s the clip we promised…

And the most recent trailer should your curiosity demand...

What if everything you love was taken from you in the blink of an eye? "The Host" is the next epic love story from the creator of the "Twilight Saga," worldwide bestselling author, Stephenie Meyer. When an unseen enemy threatens mankind by taking over their bodies and erasing their memories, Melanie Stryder (Saoirse Ronan) will risk everything to protect the people she cares most about — Jared (Max Irons), Ian (Jake Abel), her brother Jamie (Chandler Canterbury) and her Uncle Jeb (William Hurt) , proving that love can conquer all in a dangerous new world.

THE HOST hits UK cinemas March 29th. To read an exclusive interview with Andrew Niccol, check out STARBURST #387, on sale from March 15th.
