Bryan Singer has announced via his Twitter feed that French actor Omar Sy has joined the cast of X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. Sy, who starred in last year’s French hit THE INTOUCHABLES, has joined the project in an as yet unspecified role.

He joins GAME OF THRONES actor Peter Dinklage (again in an unspecified role), returning First Classers James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult and original trilogy cast members Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore.

While I would’ve liked to see the X-MEN films continue on with the FIRST CLASS arc without relying on the original trilogy cast to pull the crowds back in, we’re excited to see what they come up with and I for one am still holding out hope for a return of Alan Cumming’s Nightcrawler...

The film begins shooting in April with a planned July 2014 release.
