Movie News

Doing the publicity rounds his new film LARRY CROWNE, actor Tom Hanks today revealed to the BBC that Pixar are currently working on TOY STORY 4.

Say it ain’t so! To be clear, we’re huge fans of the series here at Starburst, but with the third film wrapping up the tale so beautifully (who among us didn't shed a tear!), why run the risk of sullying a perfect trilogy  - and how many of those are there? - with an obvious cash-grab like this?

I’m all for seeing these beloved characters again, which is why the TOY STORY shorts are the perfect way to go. Their first, HAWAIIAN ADVENTURE is currently playing before CARS 2 (finally, a reason to see it!) with a second scheduled to be attached to prints of THE MUPPETS (we don't require any more incentives to catch that one!) Here's a clip from HAWAIIAN ADVENTURE...

I really hope Hanks is wrong about TOY STORY 4, but with Pixar getting serious about sequels - CARS 2 and spin-off PLANES are in the can, with MONSTER'S UNIVERSITY coming soon and INCREDIBLES 2 being mulled - it's looking likely we'll be seeing this in a few years time.

We’ll keep you in the loop on any developments.

Since we’re talking all things TOY STORY, it’s the perfect time to share these – Woody and Buzz re-imagined by artist Luis Eduardo Vargas Montoya (coolest name ever?). I really hope these things get made...

Are you up for a TOY STORY 4, or have you, like Andy, moved on? Let us know with your comments below!

So long as they dont ACTUALLY call it TOY STORY 4 i'm fine with it.

TS3 reminded us all how much we love the characters, so there's plenty of interest.

The sensible (although unpopular) option would be prequel or spin off.

PREQUEL meaning seeing characters getting made in the toy factory, Andy opening Xmas day etc. Not to mention bringing back all those old games/toys back to life.

SPINOFF meaning little influence from the main characters and passing the baton to new ones. Or simply a new trilogy from the new Girl toy owners perspective.

Either way, i'm certain the love for these characters will filter through, so the makers do a proper job.
