Movie News

As rumoured recently, Bradley Cooper (THE HANGOVER I & II) has now bagged the lead role in the long-threatened reboot of THE CROW.

The existing draft is now being rewritten by WATCHMEN scribe Alex Tse, and will be helmed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, director of the 28 WEEKS LATER (a rare sequel that was stronger than the original in my opinion).

I'm guessing a few readers are scratching their heads over Cooper’s casting – he’s hardly very gothic looking after all – so it's worth mentioning that the original comic-book series (which ran from 1989-1999) chronicled the tales of many different characters resurrected by the magic bird, each born again to enact revenge upon those that made them suffer. So techinally, if they follow that approach this might not even be a reboot after all. If on the other hand I'm wrong and the movie does turn out to be a straight-up remake of the tragically-dated 1994 Alex Proyas original, well, then Cooper is completely miscast here. We shall see.

Hope they’re a bit more vigilant when dealing with firearms this time. I’d quite like to see an A-TEAM 2.

Is Bradley Cooper a good choice for the role? Do you want to see another CROW movie anyway? Let us know with your comments below!

This is the strangest casting choice I've heard in a long time. No matter what direction they go in I can't buy Bradley Cooper in this at all. I think it's lazy casting because Cooper has boomed in popularity recently.

I can see the Goth's being upset with this after they laid claim to this franchise. Personally I think it would be nice to see a different spin on it, following on from the last movie NOT re-booting

A great dark movie to begin with, so not sure what they can improve upon - though I would love if they went with the idea you suggested as a possiblity Kris. Its original as being something they haven't yet done on screen, and I think would bring in a strong viewing.

Having Mr Cooper as the lead is a very weird choice given his movie history, but he may just prove us wrong. I have seen him play different roles before his current streak of comedy roles, and I think he might just do the role justice. Depending on the story and the direction they go in, I think I would like to give this one a chance.

Lets see what they can do. But please as little rebootish as possible. Dont copy! If we wanted you to vomit the orginal for us, we would ask.

I can't quite see him with the intensity and darkness that Brandon Lee had, to be honest. I like the guy though so will give it a chance when it arrives in cinemas. And yes, I think the world needs a new Crow film as long as it's a good one with some decent money spent on it.
