Movie News

In this age of sequelising even the most minor of hits, it’s strange that the long-mooted follow-up to Robert Zemeckis’ 1988 classic WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT is still awaiting a greenlight. Zemeckis has wanted to return to Toontown for a while, and in a new interview with MTV he gives an update on the films status, and what his intentions are with the project.

Hearteningly, the movie will avoid the temptation to go full CG, of which Zemeckis has been quite obsessed with over the last decade (THE POLAR EXPRESS, BEOWULF, A CHRISTMAS CAROL and *shudder* MARS NEEDS MOMS). “I would do all of the animation hand-drawn, 2D, but using 3D tools”, says Zemeckis, adding that it would also be another period set adventure.

The script is reportedly finished, with Zemeckis pleased with the results, but it’s now up to Disney to give the go ahead. While we wait for them to see sense, head over to MTV for the full interview (unless you're a UK reader. The video has one of the annoying, and baffling, region blocks. Sigh.)
