Movie News

Just when we thought that the forthcoming release of THE HOBBIT couldn't get anymore exciting, Paramount Pictures have announced that the IMAX version of the film will include an exclusive, nine minute preview of J.J.Abrams’ STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS.

The footage, which will play exclusively with the 3D IMAX version of the film when it‘s released on December 14th will be the first look at footage from the long awaited sequel to the director's 2009 reboot of the franchise, barring a brief 2 frame snippet he played on a U.S. talk show a few weeks ago.

To date, the ultra secretive Abrams has given away few details about the forthcoming sequel, and this will be fans first chance to discover any information regarding the plot of the film.

What hasn't been announced is whether the footage will reveal the closely guarded identity of Benedict Cumberbatch's villain. The character has been the subject of intense speculation for months, with the most likely candidates being that of Khan Noonien Singh, or Kirk's academy friend Gary Mitchell, last seen in The Original Series' second pilot episode, WHERE NO MAN HAS GONE BEFORE.

STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS will be released in May 2013.
