TV News: S.H.I.E.L.D. Pilot Gets Two New Recruits

Casting for Joss Whedon’s S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot has added two new recruits to join Clark Gregg and Ming-Na.

THE FADES actor Iain De Caestecker will be joining the project as Agent Leo Fitz along with former HOLLYOAKES actress Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Gemma Simmons.

They both join Gregg, who is returning as fan favourite Agent Phil Coulson and former E.R. actress Ming-Na as Melinda May in what could end up being the most anticipated pilot in development.

It is still unknown at this stage how Agent Coulson will return from the dead (if he is in fact dead – we never actually saw him die after all) or even if the series will be a continuation of the films or a prequel or a side-quel.

With Whedon directing (as well as co-writing with his brother Jed and sister-in-law Maurissa Tancharoen) the pilot and the potential to bring in other characters from the ever expanding Avengers film universe (Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury must surely make an appearance at some point), S.H.I.E.L.D. is shaping up to be one of the most exciting comic book TV properties in a long time...
