Movie News

As previously reported, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has been circling this project for a quite while, but today Deadline confirms that the thesp has signed on to appear in Brett (X-MEN: THE LAST STAND) Ratner’s HERCULES. Now if only someone would come out and tell us who he'll be playing already. The suspense is killing us!

The script is actually based on two series of HERCULES books by Radical Comics – THE THRACIAN WARS and THE KNIVES OF KUSH, which depict a slightly different take on the Hercules legend than the one we’re used too. Which can only be a good thing, because Sorbo crushed it in THE LEGENDARY JOURNEYS. Seriously, what's left to be said? And who can forget Arnie's powerhouse performance as the God in 1969s HERCULES IN NEW YORK! The Rock's got a lot to live up too. Anyway, check out the Radical synopsis below for a taste of things to come...

Fourteen hundred years ago, a tormented soul walked the earth that was neither man nor god. Hercules was the powerful son of the god king Zeus, for this he received nothing but suffering his entire life. After twelve arduous labors and the loss of his family, this dark, world-weary soul turned his back on the gods finding his only solace in bloody battle. Over the years he warmed to the company of six similar souls, their only bond being their love of fighting and presence of death. These men and woman never question where they go to fight or why or whom, just how much they will be paid. Now the King of Thrace has hired these mercenaries to train his men to become the greatest army of all time. It is time for this bunch of lost souls to finally have their eyes opened to how far they have fallen when they must train an army to become as ruthless and blood thirsty as their reputation has become.

Expect production to begin shortly, and the film to hit sometime in 2014. We'll have more news as it drops.

But in the meantime, why not enjoy this bonus video!
