After last week’s disappointing news that Matthew Vaughn was off the next X-Men movie which he had successfully rebooted/prequelised in 2011, we were expecting Fox to announce the appointment of some hack to screw up one of the comic’s most celebrated storylines. However it has now been confirmed that the man who launched the X franchise into cinemas, Bryan Singer, will be returning to shepherd a tricky episode in X mythology on to the screen.
Bryan Singer hasn’t had a good time of it lately. Valkyrie tanked, Superman Returns wasn’t met with enthusiasm and Jack the Giant Killer/Slayer keeps getting delayed.
Matthew Vaughn will still produce with writer Simon Kinberg. Shooting is still set for early 2013 with a July 18th 2014 release date scheduled.
