Movie News: Gosling Leaves Winding Refn’s LOGAN'S RUN Remake

Written by Chris Holt Thursday, 25 October 2012

Movie News

Consider this the first blow to something that seemed too good to be true. Last year amidst the acclaim and buzz around their first collaboration Drive, director Nicolas Winding Refn and star Ryan Gosling talked about further collaborations. One of them was Only God Forgives which has shot and wrapped and is due to emerge next year. The other was a remake of the '70s sci-fi classic Logan's Run for Warner Bros.

Now word is that Gosling has left the project leaving it without a name actor on which to rest. Not much is known about the circumstances surrounding Gosling’s departure and for the time being Winding Refn is still attached.

The screenplay for the new version is by Alex Garland who recently did such a good job with Dredd (although nobody noticed) and is based on the novel by William F.Nolan rather than the 1976 movie. Hopefully this project will still go ahead with a new star and same director and won’t fall into the hands of some hack.
