Movie News

After director Darren Aronofsky (REQUIEM FOR A DREAM) sadly bailed on the gig earlier this year, many names have been banded about as potential replacements to helm the second solo Wolverine movie - Doug Liman (THE BOURNE IDENTITY); Antoine Fuqua (TRAINING DAY); Gavin O' Connor (WARRIOR) all coming close.

Today comes the news that Fox has finally settled on their choice - James Mangold, director of such diverse fare as COP LAND; GIRL INTER RUPTED; KATE & LEOPOLD (starring Jackman); WALK THE LINE; and last year's little-seen Tom cruise vehicle KNIGHT AND DAY.

Let's hope Fox learnt their lesson with the abysmal X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, and can deliver a movie fit for the character - a screenplay by THE USUAL SUSPECTS writer Christopher McQuarrie based on the mutant's acclaimed Japanese story arc promises much potential.

THE WOLVERINE is scheduled to hit cinemas late 2012.

Who should have directed THE WOLVERINE, or is Mangold the right choice? Let us know with your comments below!

I love the first 2 Xmen movies, and then they go and make me hate Wolverine with that first solo act. Horid! I really hope that the next one is worthy of the name. Dont be boring!

I find that the entire cast of Xmen made it worth watching. Not sure if its worth a look if its just The Wolv.

Good choice. 'Knight and Day' was cruelly ignored last year; good little movie with some decent action scenes so Mangold could be ideal for this.
