Who's up for some news on Marc Webb's sequel to THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN! Wait, where'd everybody go? This one will be better, honest! It won't just be a lazy retread of Raimi's Spidey flicks, Webb has loads up his sleeve, like... erm... that stuff about Peter's parents! That was interesting, right? Ok, maybe not. Oh... erm... what if we were to tell you that fan-favourite Mary Jane was about to be introduced! She was in all three previous flicks? Oh. Ok, we regret bringing it up. Here's Dunst's replacement according to Variety:

That there is actress Shailene Woodley, who garnered quite a bit of acclaim last year for Alexander Payne's Oscar-botherer THE DESCENDANTS, and has starred in something called THE SECRET LIFE OF AN AMERICAN TEENAGER for the last four years. What do you mean you're still not interested?!

How about if we told you Variety also reports that Electro and Harry Osborn might be in the mix!

Not arsed. Ok, fine, forget it.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 opens in UK cinemas April 18th 2014. Mark your calendars!!!

As the Editor I feel I should point out that ever since Starburst began in 1977 the news section 'Things To Come' has always been presented with an opinion. Feel free to check out the first issues where Tony Crawley often called out certain movies. I am glad you liked 'The Amazing Spider-Man' - i personally hated it (a view that is not that controversial). Starburst does have a voice, and an opinion. Sometimes you may agree, and sometimes not. We have always presented the news in this manner.

Dispassionate? No...

Why bother to report on it, if you hold the product in such disdain? It comes over as sixth-form smart alec-ishness…
I enjoyed the Raimi films, I enjoyed this one, without apology. I’m interested in news on the sequel, but it’s hard to see the point of what you’re doing, as it certainly isn’t reporting of a standard I’d expect from an outlet with such a long and respected history as Starburst.
Fine, you didn’t like TAS; but this is a news piece not an opinion piece, and it should be accordingly dispassionate, no?

The first Amazing Spider-Man was... well, amazing! Stop speaking as if nobody liked it! It was far better than any of those disappointing films Raimi produced.
Never heard of this actress, but she has to be better than Kirsten Dunst - she drove me mad!
