Movie News: Director Confirmed For THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2...

Written by Kris Heys Saturday, 29 September 2012

Movie News

…and it’s none other than the fella who delivered one of the most underwhelming tentpole pictures of 2012, Marc Webb. That film... THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN.

Sure, I'm not completely pointing fingers here of course, Webb’s uninspired direction wasn’t the only thing to disappoint in the film, there were plenty other factors to blame, chiefly the screenplay itself which completely failed to deliver anything new whatsoever. Even all that "Untold Story" stuff Sony marketed the entire campaign on never came to pass! With any luck new writers Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci (LOST; FRINGE; STAR TREK) will improve significantly on the previous outing, which was ultimately an unnecessary retread of an origin story audiences en mass had sat through in 2002. The fact that it had a useless villain also didn't help.

Along with Webb's involvement, it has also now been confirmed that Andrew Garfield & Emma Stone will be reprising their roles… but as they were two of the only things that actually worked in the movie, that hardly comes as a surprise.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 will be released April 18 2014.
