A few weeks back it was reported that 20th Century Fox had registered the title ‘Days of Future Past’ with the American ratings board the MPAA. Speculation was rife that this would form the basis for Matthew Vaughan’s follow up to X-MEN: FIRST CLASS but nobody would confirm this. Now it has been confirmed as the basis for the next film and possible bridge between two trilogies by producer Bryan Singer.
Singer has said of the project: “It deals with aspects of that comic, but also some very new things”. Singer has also said that he is looking to bring some connectivity between both the old and new franchise.
If you don’t know, the storyline deals with Kitty Pride travelling back from the future to warn the present day X-Men about a future where mutants are interred in concentration camps after the assassination of a senator by the Brotherhood.
Introducing time travel is always risky but the material is definitely there in this one and with Vaughan and Singer in charge we shouldn’t be too worried. Plus we finally get to see the Sentinels on the big screen after their sad introduction in X-MEN: THE LAST STAND.
