When your big budget sequel is rumoured to be a dog and gets its release delayed nearly a year for re-shoots and conversion to 3D, nobody could blame you for going into hiding. So whilst we all wait for the possible train wreck of GI JOE: RETALIATION, Jon M.Chu its director is doing the opposite and is lining up the next toy franchise he will bring to the screen.
A new big screen version of MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE featuring HE-MAN has been in development for a long time now, even having director John Woo and Joel Silver attached at one point. Now it seems that Chu is in talks to direct a screenplay (formerly just entitled GRAYSKULL) by Alex Litvak and Mike Finch that everyone is happy with for Sony.
If you were born after 1990 then MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE takes place in the mythical land of Eternia where Prince Adam and his warrior alter ego He-Man battle the ruthless Skeletor.
