The Hobbit

When director Peter Jackson (MEET THE FEEBLES) recently hinted that he was toying with the idea of extending his HOBBIT films to include a third, most folks rightly took it with the pinch of salt it deserved.

Now it seems his Comic Con comment is gaining credence, with The Hollywood Reporter reporting on rumblings from sources close to the production that a decision is about to be made. Warner Bros. are rumoured to be very much behind the unorthodox move, if it proves workable – the fact that all actors would have to be called back and their contracts renegotiated is just one of the many hurdles. Given that it was Jackson’s idea in the first place, we’re confident that he and his writing partners Fran Walsh & Philippa Boyens already have an idea of how to mine extra story from their source, but there’s the niggling doubt that it was pretty stretched to begin with.

Stay tuned for a definitive yay or nay over the next few weeks...

THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY is released on December 14th 2012, with part two THE HOBBIT: THERE AND BACK AGAIN December 13th 2013. If part three is greenlit, pencil that in for Christmas 2014. Oh, and expect part two to get a title change.
