I think it’s fair to say that Chris Hemsworth is having a pretty good year after THE CABIN IN THE WOODS, THE AVENGERS and SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN. Now the buff Australian is wanted by none other than Steven Spielberg to lead his next summer blockbuster.

ROBOPOCALYPSE is the story of a world in the midst of a robot rebellion against the human race after getting fed up with doing all the menial work that humans refuse to do. The film is based on the novel by Daniel H.Wilson and will be Spielberg’s next project after LINCOLN. There is currently a release date of April 25th 2014 pencilled in.

Now Hemsworth hasn’t said yes yet, and he has THOR: THE DARK WORLD and a possible follow up to SNOW WHITE on his plate as well as Ron Howard’s forthcoming F1 biopic RUSH. When he would fit in a Spielberg sci-fi epic isn’t clear but it was previously thought this would start shooting this autumn.
