By all accounts ELYSIUM, Neill Blomkamp’s follow up to DISTRICT 9, wowed San Diego comic con with its violent and stylish take on a segregated society in the future. What also came out at the event was that Blomkamp’s follow up to ELYSIUM will be of all things, a science fiction comedy.
Tentatively titled CHAPPIE, the film is about a “Really ridiculous robot” and is apparently much smaller than we are used to seeing from the director and more heartfelt. Before you dismiss this as another passion project that will never see the light of day, remember that sections of DISTRICT 9 are blackly hilarious.
Blomkamp wrote the movie with his DISTRICT 9 co-writer Terri Tatchell and is keen for it to be his next project. In the meantime we have to wait until March 2013 to clasp eyes on ELYSIUM.
