Captain America 2

After the colossal info dump Marvel Studios dropped on us at San Diego Comic Con (catch up here), you’d be forgiven for thinking that it’d be a little while before we heard any more details over their forthcoming slate. Not so! The latest news coming down the pike is that Anthony Mackie (ABRAHAM LINCOLN – VAMPIRE HUNTER) is in talks to play Sam Wilson, aka The Falcon, a character that's been hinted at since last August.

First introduced in issue 117 of CAPTAIN AMERICA (1969), The Falcon regularly teamed up with Cap, and was also part of The Avengers roster on occasion. Powers-wise, The Falcon shares a telepathic link with birds, and is also able to control them. (We’re talking the feathery kind btw, not females. That would be inappropriate.) Oh, and he can fly!

Whether the character will retain any of the abilities above in the film incarnation remains to be seen, but now the universe has opened up to the notion of magic, it would hardly be a stretch.

We’ll have more details as and when…

Will The Falcon make an interesting addition the The Avenger-verse? Should he keep his funky duds? Share your comments in the section below or on Twitter @Starburst_Mag
