Movie News: SAW Writers Adapting GOD OF WAR

Written by Chris Holt Thursday, 12 July 2012

Movie News

Fans of the uber-violent video game series GOD OF WAR should rejoice at the news that a couple of writers responsible for some of the most blood soaked screen carnage of recent years have been brought on board to write the film version.

Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan wrote the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh instalments of the SAW franchise with mediocre results but also wrote the incredibly fun first FEAST film as well as the upcoming PACIFIC RIM from Guillermo Del Toro.

GOD OF WAR follows the super angry and brutal warrior Kratos in ancient Greece as he fights several mythological beasts and rages against the gods. The series began in 2005 and the fourth game in the series is due out early next year. David Self wrote an initial draft of the film for Sony. If you are not familiar with the series then just know that it’s a combination of the most violent parts of 300, CLASH OF THE TITANS and last year’s IMMORTALS.
