Movie News: Mads Mikkelsen Cast As THOR 2 Villain

After all the announcements recently with regards to IRON MAN 3 it has been easy to overlook the fact that THOR 2 is also going to be beginning production shortly and will be released in November 2013. The THOR sequel has taken its first step on the casting train by casting Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen as the villain.

Mikkelsen has an impressive body of work behind him with appearances in VALHALLA RISING, CLASH OF THE TITANS and of course CASINO ROYALE. It’s not yet clear who Mikkelsen will be playing in the THOR sequel but perhaps his Scandinavian roots will come into play.

Idris Elba has also confirmed that he will return to Asgard as Heimdall in the new film which starts filming this summer. No word on whether or not Tom Hiddleston will appear as Loki at all in the film but considering the success of THE AVENGERS and the fact that he is now a firm fan favourite, I imagine a cameo isn’t out of the question.
