Movie News: Gary Oldman Cast In ROBOCOP Remake

Here is some news I didn’t quite expect to come along but it shows perhaps the quality and intelligence that is behind this production which gets more interesting all the time. Gary Oldman is the latest thespian to sign on the dotted line and play a role in Jose Padilha’s ROBOCOP remake.

Oldman is playing Norton (not Morton) who is the scientist who brings Joel Kinnaman’s Alex Murphy back to life via technology and finds himself torn between the oppressive needs of his employers and the humanity present in his latest creation.

No actual start date for shooting is yet confirmed but the location shooting will take place in Toronto. MGM have also set a tentative release date of August 9th 2013 which means they better get started pretty soon.
