Movie News: Chloe Moretz To Play a Zombie in MAGGIE

Written by Chris Holt

Movie News

Every year there is what is known in Hollywood as a ‘black list’ which is a list prepared by studio executives on the best unproduced screenplays making the rounds in town. Whenever a script from the list is picked up we should always pay strict attention because there is a chance we are seeing a classic unfold. The latest black listed screenplay to go into production is a zombie movie called MAGGIE.

After playing a vampire in LET ME IN and Carrie in erm… CARRIE, Chloe Moretz is in negotiations to play a zombie alongside Paddy Considine in the film which revolves around a zombie apocalypse and a father’s unconditional love for his daughter who changes into one of the undead over a period of six months. The story unfolds over the six months as she changes in the last months with her family. So it’s a touching, gentle zombie movie…

Commercial director Henry Hobson will make his feature debut with the film which has a modest budget of $10 million. The hot script is by John Scott III and Inferno Entertainment are producing and currently shopping around Cannes.

Films like ZOMBIELAND and JUAN OF THE DEAD prove there is plenty of mileage left in the shuffling zombie flick still and if this one is half as good as it’s supposed to be we could be in for something special.
