Movie News: AVENGERS Sequel Is a Go!

This might just be the least surprising news to ever grace the site, but we thought you’d like to know regardless… Disney has announced that AVENGERS 2 is officially in development! Yaaay!

Sadly there’s no release date mentioned (or anything of any interest actually) in the statement by CEO Bob Iger, but when you consider the upcoming Marvel Studios slate it’s highly likely that we could be getting it in 2015 (2016 at the latest). Happily we’ll never have to wait too long to get our Marvel movieverse fix with IRON MAN 3 hitting May 3rd 2013, THOR 2 in November 2013, and CAPTAIN AMERICA 2 scheduled for April 2014.

And could this mysterious Twitpic Edgar Wright posted over the weekend hint of an official greenlight for ANT-MAN very soon?...

In other Marvel news, Jessica Chastain has today took to the facebooks to tell fans that despite every movie site under the sun (including us) announcing she’s a lock for IRON MAN 3 as Dr. Maya Hansen, she had to turn the offer down due to scheduling. Anyone that bothered? Didn’t think so.
