Movie News: Charlize Theron Sticking With Sci-Fi For AGENT 13

Movie News

You’d think Charlize Theron would have never touched our beloved genre again after being burnt by the criminally boring AEON FLUX (and to a lesser extent the poorly received sci-fi drama THE ASTRONAUT’S WIFE back in ‘99), but no! Not only will we be seeing her in Ridley Scott’s PROMETHEUS this summer, but according to Variety she’s just signed on to the super top secret sci-fi actioner AGENT 13. Ok, super top secret is just our cute way of saying that nobody really has a bloody clue as to what it’s about yet, but we do know the screenplay by debut writer T.S. Nolan is held in very high regard in industry circles. We do hope the content is more original than the title, it must be said.

Attached to direct is Rupert Wyatt, who last year nurtured the excellent RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES to box office domination (and rather excitingly right now is in the early stage of developing its sequel!). Given Wyatt’s clout, Theron’s star power, and the fact just about every major studio is clammering to produce this thing, we should be in for something special here.

We’ll hopefully have more on this soon. Stay tuned...
