Movie News: Eduardo Sanchez To Helm Bigfoot Found Footage Horror...

Written by Chris Holt Friday, 06 April 2012

Movie News

One of the men probably partly responsible for the latest found footage boom is Eduardo Sanchez who back in the late 90’s co-directed THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT with Daniel Myrick which became a phenomenon and one of the most profitable films of all time.

Neither Myrick nor Sanchez went on to anything approaching the success of the BLAIR WITCH with most of their films relegated to the bottom shelf at Blockbuster. This year Sanchez has the promising looking horror LOVELY MOLLY coming out and after that will return to found footage for the film EXISTS.

EXISTS follows a group of friends headed into the woods only to find themselves stalked by Bigfoot. Creature actor Brian Steele who has been a man in a creature suit for PREDATORS, YOUR HIGHNESS, HELLBOY 2 and TERMINATOR SALVATION will play the creature with the rest of the cast made up of unknowns with names like: Dora Madison Burge, Samuel Davis, Roger Edwards, Chris Osborn and Denise Williamson. Filming begins next week.

Bigfoot or Sasquatch isn’t really something that has been done that well on film for a long time. Seems this may be a catching fad though as Disney also have that huge budget adventure film based around Sasquatch coming up. Hopefully this will turn out alright although it’s a shame they couldn’t figure out a more original way to bring us the concept.
