Movie News

Warner Bros. have announced that they are moving forward on a follow-up to the 2007 box office hit I AM LEGEND. Remember, the one where Big Willie mooched around a post-apocalyptic New York, talking to mannequins until some sub Playstation 2-style CGI vampires showed up and ruined an otherwise pretty compelling movie? Yeeeah you do.

Well, the big-screen adaptation of Richard Matheson's 1954 novel THE OMEGA MAN sucked a staggering $584 million from moviegoer's wallets so it was always inevitable we guess, but as to where they will be able to incorporate Smith into the story is a bit of a mystery since this is apparently NOT the prequel that has been rumoured for some years. Curious...

Original writer Akiva Goldsman will produce alongside Smith, and have hired newcomer Arash Amel to pen the screenplay.

Hopefully the truck load of cash they made on the first will ensure a healthier FX budget this time around. Then again, who needs virus-created vamps when you could just bring back Fred...

We'll have more on I AM LEGEND-ER as it develops...
